I know I am a day late, but please bear with this interruption to the AYC notes, yesterday was indeed St. Patrick’s day, the celebrated patron saint of Ireland, who supposedly charmed all the snakes off the island.
It may interest you to know, he was not a Papal Romanist, Nor was he Irish, his name wasn’t even Patrick, as a matter of fact, he supported worship on the Biblical Sabbath (Saturday) and did not support the classic Roman Catholic doctrines, contrary to popular oppinion, he was not a Catholic missionary to Island, his name appears in no Catholic church history until hundreds of years after his life and death, when they began to lay claim to his amazing legacy.
To the best of our knowledge he was born Maewyn Succat most likely in England or possibly Scottland and was kidnapped to work as a slave on Ireland, it was only after his escape that he returned to the emerald isle is preach the Gospel.
I hope this at least sparked some interest for you, I know it certainly did for me!
